Research Within Reach: SDU Welcomed the Public to Forskningens D酶gn 2025
The SDU campus in Odense was buzzing with life this past Saturday as the university opened its doors for Forskningens D酶gn 2025.

More than 3,000 visitors came to explore, learn, and satisfy their curiosity. The program offered everything from thought-provoking talks by Clement Kjersgaard and entertaining, child-friendly science with Motor Mille to engaging presentations of the latest research from the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Focusing on Society’s Most Pressing Issues
Our researchers were ready to shed light on today’s major societal challenges and to share insights into how we, together, can develop meaningful solutions. Children and adults alike arrived with curiosity and open minds – and SDU embraced the task of communicating knowledge in an accessible, relatable way for all ages.
In a time marked by misinformation and news with a questionable relationship to truth, the "True or False?" station highlighted the importance of critical thinking. Visitors could try their hand at building stories grounded in facts and knowledge – rather than clickbait and flashy headlines. The activity combined play with learning and gave participants the tools to better distinguish between credible and unreliable information.
At the booth of postdoc Christian Vedel and Torben Johansen, visitors could explore artificial intelligence and patterns in history. Through data analysis, they demonstrated how AI can help us understand societal development and consumer behavior – and what it means when new technologies become integrated into our daily lives.
Health technology was another key topic, with a focus on how new solutions can support healthcare professionals and improve quality in the healthcare system. This requires interdisciplinary knowledge, and here the social sciences play an important role – a role the faculty actively seeks to develop through perspectives and solutions that can help guide future implementation.

The Importance of Leading the Way
Forskningens Døgn serves as a reminder of how valuable it is to open the university to the wider community. When research is brought close to citizens, it becomes vivid and relevant – and that is where it makes the greatest impact. Across ages, the atmosphere was charged with curiosity, as children immersed themselves in learning alongside their parents. Everywhere on campus, the spirit of engagement and enthusiasm was palpable.
We are proud to be part of a university where research is not only about numbers and theories, but about real-world solutions and a shared future. Forskningens Døgn 2025 once again proved to be a day of accessible learning, a source of inspiration – and a joyful experience for the whole family.
