The research group for hormonal disorders, obesity and diabetes at Esbjerg Hospital aims to improve understanding of the impact of these conditions and to explore potential interventions that can enhance health, physical capacity and quality of life for people living with hormonal disorders, obesity and diabetes.
Research focus areas
The group primarily conducts patient-centred clinical research based on the patient populations treated at the hospital. This includes patients with osteoporosis as well as individuals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes who are followed in outpatient settings.
The group also has a particular focus on research into obesity and obesity-related conditions. This research is anchored in HELIOS – the Excellence Centre for a Healthier Life with Obesity.
As a result, the group has a broad project portfolio that typically involves collaboration across several hospital departments, professional fields and research disciplines – both clinical and epidemiological.
The group often collaborates with other institutions and hospitals, both in Denmark and internationally.
