Mina Nicole Holmgaard H盲ndel started as Research Assistent at OPEN on July 1st...

Mina H盲ndel聽has a professional bachelor degree in nutrition and health, along with a master聽of science in human nutrition.聽

As a bachelor student Mina planned, implemented聽and聽processed data for the intervention project Take the Stairs and Keep Healthy聽at聽Institute of Preventive Medicine, The Capital Region of Denmark by Professor Berit L. Heitmann. Through聽"nudging" (a poster place at "the聽point of choice") the goal聽of the project was to get people to choose the stairs instead of the escalator聽in order to increase the level of physical activity on a daily basis. The results of the study was published in: International Journal of Obesity.

Since聽2011 Mina has been part of a team of research assistentents in a the聽interventionproject Healthy Start - Prevention of Obesity among small children, the goal of the study is to prevent over weight and obesity among preschool children who聽has a higher risk of over weight and obesity later in life. The intervention consist of individuelle conversations and group activities聽focused on:聽Diet, physical activities, stress and sleep聽().

Mina has been employed as a research assistent at OPEN since July 1st 2013 affiliated to the PhD-project:聽Influence of vitamin D status in utero and at the time of birth on the risk of childhood fractures,聽the study聽targets to examine the聽value of vitamin D in utero and at birth聽for later risk for fractures among school age children. The focus is on vitamin D partly from聽the diet聽(effected by enrichment programs) and partly from absorption through the skin via聽UVB-radiation from the sun (effected by the seasons). Main Supervisor on the project is Professor Bo Abrahamsen, OPEN, Institute of Clinical Research,聽University of Southern Denmark.
