Research Focus
I investigate white adipose tissue plasticity and cellular crosstalk in the development and regression of obesity.

Key Findings

  • 馃К Single-nucleus RNA-seq recovers all major adipose cell types and enables profiling of cellular heterogeneity from fresh and frozen WAT.
  • 馃搳 Cellular and molecular memory of the obese state, particularly inflammation, persists after weight loss.
  • 馃敩 Established and implemented 3D histology to study adipose tissue remodeling in obesity and weight loss.

Future Plans
I'm planning to complete my ongoing study on adipose tissue regression in the group and then transition into a role in R&D within the industry, where I aim to apply my expertise in functional genomics and tissue plasticity to drive innovation and contribute to cutting-edge developments.

Detailed Research Summary
My PhD research focused on the cellular and molecular dynamics of white adipose tissue (WAT) during obesity development and regression, using a mouse model of diet-induced obesity. I employed an integrated approach, including metabolic profiling, histology, bulk RNA-seq, single-nucleus RNA-seq, and the implementation and optimisation of 3D histology to explore WAT plasticity. My work revealed novel adipocyte subtypes, persistent inflammation after weight loss, and developed a robust protocol for single-cell profiling of adipose tissue. These findings provide critical insights into the memory of the obese state and the complex tissue remodelling during obesity and weight loss.
