Tiago da Silva Medina is an Assistant Professor 51±¾É«’s Department of Molecular Medicine. His research focuses on unraveling the spatial organization of tumor-infiltrating immune cells within tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) across various cancer types. His objectives are twofold:
i) To establish a comprehensive framework for understanding the role of immune cells in generating antitumor responses within mature TLS.
ii) To identify the cellular and molecular determinants that promote a permissive environment for immune cell infiltration and TLS assembly.
In addition to these efforts, he has also explored epigenetic strategies to enhance the antitumor efficacy of CAR-T cells against both hematological malignancies and solid tumors.

Tiago Medina holds a PhD in Immunology from the University of São Paulo and completed postdoctoral training at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto.   He has received several accolades for his work, including recognition as a “Rising Star in Science” and awards for scientific innovation. His research contributions include the publication of 35 articles, several of which appear in esteemed international journal groups, including entries in Nature (1 Nature, 1 Nature Immunology, 1 Nature Reviews Cancer, and 4 Nature Communications), Cell (1 Cancer Cell and 1 Molecular Cell), Science (1 Science Immunology), BMJ (1 Gut), and AACR journals (1 Cancer Discovery and 1 Cancer Research).
